Our orginal State Senate Candidate was Desiree Pilgrim Hunter. For many reasons, it just did not work out. And as the race for State Senate became uglier and uglier as challangers; Fernando Tirado, Dan Padernacht and others attempted to galvalize the district. When the smoke cleared:

People that read this blog regularluy know that this blog was partly created-by wanting to keep ALL OF THE OUTSIDERS who want a piece of our district--out!!!!

And while some in the community even consider Gustavo a part time--insider/outsider---the same people say that it is more important to corral around Gustavo Rivera.

While most are attempting now in The 33rd State Senate to "galvanize the district" for Senate Candidate Gustavo Rivera, the community elements get stranger and stranger.

Below is the New York Post Story, highlighting that The Local Community Group, The Committee of 100 Democrats will NOT BACK Gustavo Rivera on Tuesday. While Vice Chair Robert Press claims he preferred Dan Padernacht over Gustavo Rivera or Perdo Espada---The Chairman of The Committee of 100 Democrats--Ricky Martinez has publicy endorsed Pedro Espada. NEITHER PREFERRED GUSTAVO!!!

The NWB Gremlins called up Ricky & Bob to confirm if Robert Press, who endorsed The Jose Rivera Ricky Martinez ticket at The Committee of 100 Democrat BBQ would endorse Pedro Espada as well.

While Ricky Martinez, currently in Puerto Rico, confirmed his allegance to Pedro Espada, Vice Chair Robert Press stated, "I am not working for anyone, Jose, Gustavo, Pedro or Ricky"

In one week, voters in the 32nd Senatorial District of Bronx County will go to the polls to elect their next State Senator. They'll face a stark choice between Rev. Ruben Diaz, Sr. - who will continue to be an obstructionist - and Charlie Ramos, who has a deep commitment to building community and developing the next generation of future leaders

He is well known as PS 160 Co- President of the PTA, Community School District 11 Presidents Council President, Co-Chair of the Coalition against the MTA Cuts, Coalition to save affordable housing member , Co-Chair of the PCB-Free NYC Schools Parent Coalition, Coop City Youth and New Sales Committee member and Coop City Spanish American Club.

Given Sebastian’s compassion for the issues in Coop City, he will make an excellent representative for the people. Sebastian has lived in Coop city since the early age of 13 - nearly 20 years. He has laid a foundation for his family in Coop City and is active in this election for District Leader to ensure the quality of life for his family and yours. Not only does Sebastian live in Coop City with his wife Jenny Ulanga-Santiago of 11 years, and their four children (Jennesy, Jennise, Sebastian Jr., Jennisa), his sister lives there as well. His parents lived there for 15 years and are currently retired and living in Florida. Sebastian is an 1199 union baby and a third generation union worker.

Sebastian has college degrees which gives him direct insight into how he can help the community. In 2006 he graduated from Bronx Community College (BCC) with a two year degree and in 2007 he graduated from Lehman College with a four year degree in Political Science. Sebastian has insight into two worlds, education and community life. Bringing them together he will undoubtedly make Coop City a better place to live while providing a voice to the people. Sebastian comes from a multi-cultural background. His last name Ulanga and ancestry come from Africa and his parents were born in Puerto Rico. Sebastian married Jenny Coste-Ulanga who is Dominican. Coop City provides the perfect melting pot environment for them. Sebastian is the real deal!

Sebastian is a husband and father above all else and that speaks volumes. It is his most important goal in life to provide a secure, safe, and nurturing environment for his family and the people around them. In part the environment has a lot to do with this and Sebastian has many initiatives to clean up Coop City as well as the Bronx borough parks. He will make the parks safe for his children and yours by cleaning out the trash, broken glass, maintaining Coop City in the Mitchell-Llama program to guarantee affordable housing for working families, and providing more public safety officers. He picks the children up from school and helps them with homework everyday.

Sebastian has experience with organization and people’s rights. He has an Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. In 2002, Sebastian was instrumental in organizing the unionization of three satellite sites at Beth Abraham Health services; he was elected a 1199 union delegate after only being there for a year. In 2010 started a business Paralegal Services LS Incorporated to help the community with credit issues, mortgages and attorney referrals.

In 2008 Sebastian became directly involved when two teenagers were stabbed in the Coop City community. He was the only person who stood up and organized a candlelight vigil, calling for more Coop City police and NYPD police presence. He has been an outspoken advocate of equal education funding across the board for all of our children education. Currently his biggest task is organizing a campaign against PCBs (Polychlorinated Biphenyls). PCBs are found in any building built between 1950 and 1979.

2008: September -Richard Soto, The 3rd Candidate in The Pedro Espada Vs Efrain Gonzalez 33rd State Senatte Race backs out and because of the last minute cancellation, it is too late to take him off the ballot. Many politicos believed Richard was working for Espada at that time.

RESULT: Espada Wins. Many political insiders believed that Richard's "vote for me the community guy" Soto's campaign generated enough speed-that is was one of the main contributors in Espada's Win-by at that time a viable 3rd Candidate

One Night-Sept 2nd-2 Major Debate Outlets:

Winner: EAST SIDE NAACP Democratic Candidates Night

First Vice President Biarni Burke reported a tremendous success as over 200 people jammed The Church to hear their elected officials: Ironically enough, while this east side event pronounced many east Side Candidates, they also courted and won, over the overly promoted Bronx News Network, the candidates from The 33rd State Senate District: But a quick overview:

*Firstly, A New Party, "The Freedom Party" was their strongly represented by Gov Candidate Charles Barron. He joined his Attorney General Candidate Ramon Jimenez in attacking AG Candidate Broadsky and others as being "Albany insiders" that gave us the mess we are in now".

*In The State 33rd District-Mr Gustavo Rivera and Pedro Espada showed up and faced both each other and the public. Pedro starts off by mentioning his "humble beginnings" and his "long record of accomplishments" in helping people and community. Mr Rivera got up and seriously questioned his long record and said "many others were also looking and questioning" it.Mr Espada was received well.

*In The 32nd State Senate District-the crowd got woundddddd up as Charlie Ramos went off against Ruben Diaz Sr....well, almost!. By coin toss, Ruben went first and announced that The South Bronx has been reborn and if you looked at his record of accomplishments you will see that he was a leader in Bronx Reform. Ruben also stressed, as a pupil of "God" that he will be ALWAYS against same sex marriage.

Charlie Ramos then gets up-as Mr Diaz strolls quickly out-and slams him hard. "What changes in the South Bronx? Mr Ramos indicated, "If he is a leader in Bronx reform I assure you if you look at Rev Diaz accomplishments, you will find nothing". Mr Dan Padernacht, who is also a candidate in the 33rd was not at this event, as he was at the other de3bate, at Fordham Evangelist Church. Editors note: At that event, many booed wheen announced Mr Rivera was not coming. It was already expected Perdo Espada was not going to attend the west side debate).

*Also on hand and said a few words were: 80th Assembly Candidate Robert Giuffre, 78th Assembly Candidate Sergio Villiardre, 86th Assembly Candidate Nelson Castro and 76th assembly Candidate Peter Rivera.

Our job, says NAACP 1st VP Mr Burke says, was to engage the candidates to talk to their community". Well, The East Side succeeded!.

All we know is this: People have been saying that Rev Ruben Diaz Sr is The REAL Chair of Bronx County. In 2009, we were leaders in The Yudelka Tapia candicacy and we thought doing quite well.......till one day.................ALL THE ICE CREAM TRUCKS CAME OUT AND YELLED "Vote for Cabrera" ...and the rest some say is history.

Although I thought we combatted in well last year "The Batmobile Vs The Ice Cream Trucks", this year, Ruben has decided to take out the whole fleet, right next to his church........oh oh...church???

Candidate Night in Bedford Park

Sept 1st, 2010, was The First Bedford Mosholu Community Association meeting and many of the candidates were nice enough to show up:

80th Assembly- Robert Giuffre made what he indicated was a major announcement when he said "I will put a district office in this neighborhood".He stressed his Morris Park roots and his passion for quality of life and more assistance for police. When asked a question about where was the highest crime area in his district, he said "I dont know but I presume this one". (OH OH). Many were puzzled that neither Naomi Rivera nor LDA founders Kenny Agosto or Joe McManus were not there, considering that they are all running as a slate for continued office.

33rd State Senate: Well another Pedro no show allowed for Round 2 of The Danny Boy Padernacht Vs Gustavo Rivera confrontation. Mr. Padernachht stressed his community roots and family involvement and his legal experience as pre-requirements for the position, while Mr Rivera, once again, spitted out the endorsements, one by one---Diaz Jr, Fernando Ferrer, Annabel Palma, 1199/SEIU, etc,etc, .some times making no sense. For example, mentioning The endorsement of Fernando Cabrera & Jeffrey Dinowitz when neither represent Bedford Park. Mr Rivera believes his community experience comes from his "experience working with progressive officals in City Hall, The State and on The Federal Level".

78Th Assembly-State Committee Candidate Ricky Martinez made an apperance and declared himself "the homegrown candidate" in his race and said he has "lived in the Bronx my whole life" and believes his main job as State Committeeman is to "keep you the public informed about events up in Albany and the Community".

Well, some would say, Pedro Espada is laughing all the way to the bank.. Bronxnet TV 33rd State Senate Debate was such great TV, that frankly we have to say , DANNY BOY WON!!!

The Greatest Line in this 30 minute debate between Gustavo Rivera Vs Dan Padernacht (and they were some goodies) was when Gustavo (after being jabbed by Danny several tiimes for no community involvement) mentiones that "Its telling that Pedro was not there to take the lead in The Kingsbridge Armory Re-development".. Danny Boy gives him a classic left hook by reminding him, "You Were not either"

Gustavo took so many left hooks to the ribs , his basic political skills abanded him, spitting out different endorsements-everytime---I mean every time--that Moderator Gary Axelbank asked him a question. A telling sign, indeed!.

South East Bronx reform-Uncle Charlie or God Almighty?

Yes, that's our pet name for him. We met Senator Candidate Ramos as part of the Bronx Campaign Team in 2009 for Mayoral Candidate William Thompson (he was my boss) and frankly, we never enjoyed working for a more caring man. Rev Diaz Sr, frankly to us, is a good man. Hey, there is nothing wrong with Christian Conservative Values. But we need sound reform-not same old government-and Ruben Diaz Sr is more conserned with being "a playa" in the divided State Legislature and The Bronx Democratic party-so divided-that NOW he himself declares him "A Political Master" and fights with his son, Bronx Borough president Ruben Diaz over who should lead reform in the North West District. oh Yes, The Master supports Pedro Espada!
Maybe its time for reform in The South East Bronx! We simply believe that Charlie Ramos is reform-just like Adam-and so does The NYC Daily Gotham.

Is It Powell Time?

Political History happened in 1989. NYC politics changed. There was no more Board of Estimate-now an empowered City Council. Also, boundaries lines were changing and gerrymandering was required. The result; More representation from the residents and businesspeople from within their own communities. Thus, a more centralized Harlem.

No, we are not talking 1944, when Harlem opened up its first Congressional Seat and voted in Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. we are talking about the election of 1991 when many of us (some living in Harlem at the time) decided to keep History and political Independence alive by Supporting Adam Clayton Powell, IV into city government as a Councilman.

Twenty years later, we have st rived for this Independence all over the city boundaries. This movement, we believe, has assisted in the makings of a 1992 Fusion Party and a 1994 Bronx Independence party. This movement also allowed us to help install some of The County Chairs, from Keith Wright in Manhattan to Jose Rivera in The Bronx. This movement has also allowed us to assist in the areas of Brooklyn and work with great campaign teams. This movement allowed to inject some life into what was dead political activity in The Bronx; establishing The Committee of 100 Democrats in 2005 and The Liberty Democratic Association in 2008 .We still do not know if this "Independence Movement" created The New Bronx Rainbow Coalition or destroyed the prior workings of a rebuilt party-destoyed by The Friedman's in 1994 (by the help of independents).

You will learn below more of our working for 2010, with the belief that 20 years ago, and 20 years from today, we are still on the verge of making political history-for the prospect of good independent government. This year, we go back to where it all began for some of us; Harlem USA. A Different Place than in 1990. Hell Yeah!. Has Charlie Rangel achieved community greatness, YES HE HAS!. Is it time for another POWELL MAN in Congress to continue what we believe to be over a 90 year Powell (Jr, IV) and Rangel representation?---KEEP THE FAITH, BABY!!!! (Even in The Bronx)

Transportation Alternatives is sponsoring a debate of the 33rd District Senate candidate on Thursday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m. at Fordham Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2430 Walton Ave. (right smack in the middle of the district).Candidates Gustavo Rivera and Dan Padernacht have both agreed to participate and share their views and opinions on transit and other vital community issues. Unfortunately, the incumbent Pedro Espada Jr. has (thus far) declined to show up.

The NAACP has also announced on Sept 2nd they will be holding their own candidates night; from The Attorneys General race to many District Leader Races. Bronx NAACP Chair Burke has indicated to us that the key races the group is focusing on is the; 76th, 78th and 86th Assembly races and The 31st, 32 and 33rd State Senate races. The Debate will be held at " Westchester Methodist Church, 2547 East Tremont, from 7-9PM. Oh Boy, Sept 2nd will be a HOT political North-South-East-West Throw down!. Only interesting part is: With one on Fordham and the other on Tremont-will the cross town traffic be good enough?

A Revolution-or a continuation?

2010, will be a "historic year" in Bronx Politics-for its lows!!!!!!

First, we have stopped immediate assistance on the campaigns of Nelson Castro & Jose Rivera. We believe both of these Assemblyman deserve re-election. Not because of their "greatness" however but the lack of greatness from there challengers.
a) Castro runs against Hector Ramirez- a nice man who is District Leader-many say was next in line for The Assembly job before Castro-has spent now years in his District Office-not being able to communicate to the Bronx Higher Ups. Why? Because he can not speak English. Should it be a requirement? Well, we would preume so guessing that over 80% of The State Legislature does not speak Spanish as their first language. Hector needs to go to ESL classes in Bronx Community College, instead of going to Albany. Even sadder, independent Yudelka Tapia, has now gone to the other side, working with Hector Ramirez after orginally accepting The Female District leader job from Castro. Finally even sadder, Nelsonn hired "Strategic Strategies" a loose knit consulting firm headed by Sherman Brown, key aide for former Councilwoman Maria Baez and Assemblyman Jose Rivera. And many insiders will now tell you in the campaign: It has been mistake after mistake after mistake and because of this NWB Democrats, has slowed down its support for Mr Castro until this consulting group gets back on its tender feet.

b- Jose Rivera-NWB Democrats has also slowed down its grass roots efforts for Assemblyman Rivera, partly requested by The Assemblyman himself. In 2006, NWB Democrats supported Efrain Gonzalez and received over 80% of the total vote. In 2008, Efrain decided not to ask NWB Democrats and injected The Committee of 100 Democrats to run their campaign. Mr Gonzalez lost to Pedro Espada-60-40%. Now, Mr Jose Rivera, by picking The Committee of 100 over NWB Democrats to run his campaign, we believe, might be setting up the same trap that Efrain created for himself in 2008. While NWB Democrats has been 12 for 16 in campaign tests the last 8 years, The Committee has gone 1 for 5 in the last 3 years. Good Luck Jose!. As a man of the people we believe he is going to win, and Rickys candicacy can not hurt him, but the "lack of troop" power that has been facing The Committee in recent years has got to worry the "higher ups"
c- Inside-Outside-Inside
In full disclosure, we wanted Desiree Pilgrim Hunter to win for State Senator-why-because in our opinion, she was the only REAL candidate from the NWB neighborhood.
Gustavo Rivera-a nice man who has no community presence in The Bronx
Pedro Espada-which we still today are not sure which house, borough or state he lives in.
The New Rooselvelt Group-from New Rochelle-not the Bronx. SOUNDS ALL LIKE OUTSIDERS ON THE INSIDE, Right?

d- While we do not enjoy The Snooki name attached to Assemblywoman Rivera we must admit, coonsidering that Snooki is hot, that we believe that is a GREAT COMPLIMENT for Naomi.
NWB Democrats have decided NOT TO GIVE support to this race because Naomi Rivera-supports Kenny Agosto----and Kenny Agosto--supports Naomi Rivera...OH, you didnt know? They were trying to keep it quiet-but THEY ARE A TEAM.
Yes, The Same people that challenger Robert Guiffee says MUST BE ELIMINATED from office. But Sadly Robert needs more of a history lesson. When he says "Naomi is the worst legislator we ever had"-and says in the next breath-"I would have supported Kenny Agosto for Assemblyman"-just shows the political naiveness of Robert. Simply put, if you hate the job Naomi is doing why would you support her puppetmaster!. Yes, Kenny Agosto planted Naomi Rivera into her current job and for this trickery at its highest level-we decided to walk away.

e- While we are still supporting Ricky Martinez for State Committeeman yes, indeed we do have a lot of worries. Firstly, Ricky will get some monetary help from Pedro Espada (read below). Secondly, the committees depressed troop level (from 100 in 2006 to 5 today) does not make it an easy race to say the least. As a matter of fact, Ricky had to create a new troop, "The Committee of 100 Ladies" to hand out his petition when his Executive Board (Robert Press, Rene Cuesta, Chris Jones) all declined to work the summer to get Ricky signatures. To Ricky's credit-The word is he got 600. Sadly though, not 1 signature was received by The Executive Board.
f- Maybe our biggest reason for disolusion in The Bronx is the statement above by Adam IV. In The Bronx, 1981, we had Webtech-a government ripoff-and since then-started a 40 year downhill spiral of Bronx Corpution and Bad policies that today, 30 years, now has The Bronx Dems standing as a shadow of its former self. In 1962, Bronx Dems had the president's (of the US) ear, today, they are lucky if they can get the ear to the sanitation department to clean their streets. We had big hope in The Bronx and still do, especially on the North and SouthEast sides (Go Charlie Ramos) but today, as we started in our first campaign for Adam Clayton Powell IV 20 years ago as a Councilman, Adam's race to us, represents the continual evolution of an Independent voice in NYC politics and that is where the bulk of our efforts will be this year.

g- but maybe lastly, who is the real king of Bronx Politics? Chairman Carl Heastie gets orders from NYS Democratic Party to terminate Pedro Espada's membership from Bronx Dems party. Carl passes off big problem to 2nd in command Jeffrey Dinowitz-who says-there is no need to act now. But then they both push their resources to attempt to get Nelson Castro off the Democratic Ballot Line? Even worse, last minute Jeffrey Dinowitz token support of Gustavo Rivera in the 33rd State senate, after supporting Riverdalian Dan Padernect all summer, now assures Danny Boy will get 10%of the total vote-and Gustavo might lose!. Who wins? If Pedro does, is it Jeffrey's fault?----or does he want Pedro to win all along (Editors Note: NWB Democrats announced Jeffrey's double dipping of candidates in 2009 when he supported both,; Anthony Cassino AND Oliver Koppell for City Council). What we do understand however, that $250,000 of monies allocated to Gustavo by his suporters New Rooselvelt CAN NOT GO TO Gustavo directly----is that why Jeffrey's Ben Franklin Club and Kenny Agosto's Liberty Democratic Club are now supporting Gustavo?. Yes times are tuff---even in the Democratic Clubs pocketbook.
And that why we are leaving most of these Bronx races this year. Yes clubs should get paid for hard political work-but at least were ethical!

If there is a hard working person traveling-from Bronx to Brooklyn-to demonstrate his political character-they could be no one ironally better than William "Mr X" Stratford.

If anyone wants to work in Brooklyn, Mr X is currently working with a group in Brooklyn outlining Darlene Mealy's case for higher office.According to William, she will be working hard.

Up in the Boogie Down Bronx however, William has been stymied by the uglyness of Bronx Politics. "I have just been told by Robert Press & Ricky Martinez, workers for The Jose Rivera campaign that they are waiting for a bunch of monies from Pedro Espada to finish there campaign. Its a shame Ricky decided to go with Pedro".

It gets even stranger when NWB Democrats attempted to find out about this situation, and Robert Press announced: " I have to support Jose Rivera because I am with Ricky-but I really love Sergio (Assemblyman Candidate against Jose Rivera)".

Anyone Know or Remember Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde?
In short, it was about a person, who had both, a good side and bad side.

These days, The 80th Assembly District feels the same way. Since the sad "political war" of 2008 and the "crumbling" of The Liberty Democratic Club. Assemblywoman Naomi Rivera & Kenny Agosto have kept up the pace in their 2 year war. Kenny's club, going against Councilman Koppell; firing poll watchers in The Scott & Tracey Towers areas of the District and most sadly, "not including" The 80th West Side Communities (Bedford park, Norwood, Van Courtlandt Village, Fort Independence) to participate in 80th political activities. And on the other side on this coin, Assemblywoman Rivera, some would say, has been no better, not just stating that "Liberty Democratic Association" DOES NOT represent the 80th assembly District, but also not formulating or assisting in any re-development of another club.

So, many were "SHOCKED" when "out of the blue" A SINGLE TICKET EMERGES:

The New King of Fordham Road??

In 1979, when there was a North Bronx (at that time) which was over 70% White, many residents and merchants were worried about their quality of life. They were worried, as many were in the South Bronx before then, that the "habits" of other minorities would bring "crime, fires and other quality of life" issues, that The Southern Bronx started to develop, as early as the 1950's.

Well, 32 years later, we know "most' of the story. Yes, crime, since 1993, has gone down, in some areas, as much as 90%. Fires, were nill. But on the bad (or good side-depending on what side of the fence your own) side, many 1979 North Bronx residents and Merchants: Died or Moved-Moving to places like Riverdale. These residents did not want to help the neighborhood that they lived in, they just went to create a new one.

So, it is NO SURPRISE that now Riverdale Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz (A Former Kingsbridge Resident)wants to be "The New King" of Fordham Road by trying to dethrone the 2010 Elected Offical base of Assemblyman Jose Rivera by supporting candidate Sergio Villaverde in his quest for 78th Assembly Power.

North West Bronx Democrats belives Sergio is a good and honorable man. But I hope Sergio remembers that Today, Fordham Road does not have the same 'tone" as the Man who woul;d want to be King!

NUTRITION PROGRAMS SEE CUTS AND INCREASES IN GOVERNOR’S BUDGET

Rivera Concerned About Impact on Families and Seniors

(Albany, NY) Assemblyman José Rivera (Bronx), the Chair of the Assembly Task Force on Food, Farm and Nutrition Policy is pleased that the Governor’s proposed State budget was generous to emergency food programs such as food pantries and soup kitchens, but concerned about funding cuts for senior meal programs and WIC. In addition, the Governor’s budget would delay increases in public assistance grants, reduce funds for obesity and diabetes prevention and eating disorders, and cut services for the homeless.

Rivera stated, “I welcome the Governor’s significant increase in funding for food pantries and soup kitchens helping those hungry families and individuals who have been hit hardest by the Great Recession we are experiencing. However, I am not pleased by the Governor backing away from his commitment to raise public assistance benefits which have not increased in 20 years. If Wall St. CEOs can get government bonuses this year so should mothers and their children who are barely surviving on their welfare checks.”

The Governor’s budget includes a nearly $10 million increase in funding for emergency food programs. However, the cuts in programs serving the homeless will hurt the same people who will be turning to the food programs. Reduced funding for senior meal programs and WIC will hurt those who are trying to keep from relying on emergency donations.

“I am also concerned about going backwards in our efforts to prevent childhood obesity and diabetes. These health problems will lead to higher health care costs for Medicaid where spending increased faster than expected this year,” added Rivera.

New York is experiencing one of its worse downturns in history and the legislature will work to make improvements to the Governor’s budget plan.

“I look forward to working with the Speaker, my colleagues in the Assembly, our friends in the Senate, the Governor, and the President and Congress, to support our struggling families and seniors. I believe that we can do even more to use nutrition assistance and education to reach those goals and will continue my work to improve food policy for consumers, food businesses and farmers.” said Rivera.

Oh Boy, what a mess!!!!. This area, from Highbridge to Kingsbridge Heights is about ready to go through Bronx political war-part 2. We think however, a snapshot of the recent 14th Councilmanic race really tells us who has the upside:

You know this man?. For a man (and we have no problem saying it) who just moved into the area, he is certinly spreading his new found wealth and power around town.

From Morrisina to Riverdale, Mr Espada has gone to many a neighborhood and assisted like Santa Claus.
In The North Bronx Areas of Bedford Park, Norwood & Van Courtlandt Village, fror example, Pedro went to Mosholu Montefiore Community Center and happily passed around a $90,000 check for its youth and senior programs. Lets hope Mr Donald Bluestone (MMCC Director) uses the money in a encouraging way.

In Bedford Park, at a recent community board meeting Senator Espads office recoginized the hard work (of our parent) North Bronx Thinktank, in its contuining effort for; more economic development, parks preservation and children's safety. And in Norwood, a simple continuation like the funding of holiday lights will be at least, a small start, in the re-development of The 204th St Merchant Strip.

People "in the know" in the 11th Councilmanic Race last year, did not understand what was going on. At that time:

1-Oliver Koppell & Riverdale BasedThe Ben Franklin Club were not the best of friends, Oliver suporting Jose Rivera during the Bronx Political War.
2- Jeffrey Dinowitz Arose!-from Local leader to Vice Chairman of Bronx Democrats
3- Liberty Democratic Association (LDA) delegates on Olivers non riverdale petitions and having Ben Franklin delegates on his Riverdale petitions, with both sets of petitions, made and appoved by Bronx County. LDA was supporting Koppell oppenent Anthony Cassino.
4- Many minor "screwups" during the campaign, including 3 campaign managers for Mr Koppells campaign (Anthony Rivieccio, non riverdale, Arthur Heller, Riverdale, Jeffrey Dinowitz, Cross Coordinator)

The wind was not setting right. Was Jeffrey Dinowitz trying to publically support Oliver Koppell while supporting fellow collegue, LDA man Kenny Agosto and his candidate?

If Bronx Democratic Chairman Carl Heastie's eddict is correct, "That The District Leaders run Bronx County" then The 80th (From Bedford Park/Norwood to Pelham Parkway/Morris Park) should be an interestingggggggggg race as well

Since the political war in 2008, we have requested (and received) some quality conversation from Mr Heastie regarding the real representation of the district. We have tried to explain to Mr Heastie that because of the way the district is gerry-mandered (east to west), The 80th has several leaders, notwithstanding current District Leader Kenny Agosto.

In 2009, The 11th Council District Race showed (West Side) that NWB Democrats have a majority hold over the area, foling Liberty Democratic Association's (LDA) bid for control of the area, via their failed attempt of their Council Candidate: Anthony Cassino. The current race for Mayor also showed 2 results in the 80th assembly District. On The West Side, Mr Thompson won. On The East Side, Mr Bloomberg won. NWB Democrats was in charge of Mr Thompson's campaign on the West Side and LDA was in charge on the East Side.

BUT WE STILL ADMIT-LDA is a great EAST SIDE Club. Assemblywoman Rivera, while doing a creditable job, is sadly in the middle of this part 2 Bronx political War. Many have been mentioning; Who's running against Naomi?. Current State Committeeman Joe McManus?. Current District Leader Kenny Agosto? 80th Assembly Resident Anthony Rivieccio?

The political train of thought in the 80th is; To beat Naomi Rivera, you need to have a Three way Race? Joe McManus vs. Kenny Agosto vs Naomi Rivera Anyone? Hmmmm, it might be time to give Mr heastie a call again!?.

In Fordham-both NWB Democrats & New Life Church established themselves as "New political players" in the areas. Fernando Cabrera & Greg Faulkner continue to show new political realities into the area while The Good Old Jose Rivera Machine is still alive and strong!

In the mist................a wild neighborhood rumor. Upper 78th Assembly Area Club, The Committee of 100 Democrats is holding their Annual electoral meeting on Saturday. Ricky Martinez & Robert Press (we suspect) will be re-elected as Chairman & Vice Chairman and Ricky has made frequent comments about "power sharing in The 78th". When ask for a quote, Ricky says, "I'll tell you this, Im tired of outsiders comig into my neighborhood and the powers at be need to learn how to powershare". WOW-RICK-We have been saying that for 2 Years!!!

Of course, whar might be more interesting is: The Committee, since 2006, has lost over 50% membership, supported (and lost) Former State Senator Efrain Gonzalez, took part in The 2008 Political war, desposing the Former Bronx Democratic Chairman (and 78th State Assemblyman Jose Rivera) and nearby Assemblywoman Naomi Rivera has made no overtures to the Committee since 2006.

In the end, it was a dud as The Ken Agosto led EAST SIDE club got clobbered by NWB Democrats (14% to 3%) in providing strength to their council candidates.

The Committee of 100 Democrats-While beating LDA in neighborhood strength (6% to 3%) , since the exodus of membership in 2007, The Committee went from a 2005 of strength of Koppell to 22% to their loss (11% strength) for Efrain Gonzalez in 2008 to their 2009 low for Koppell at 6%.

North end Democratic Club- The Jose Rivera once led powerful club was ambushed by many new players in the 78th Assembly District. From A Church, to a Union to a Bronx political party!!!!

SEIU/1199- Boy, ALL TALK and Very little action. Their 3% showing of strength for Anthony Cassinowas awful.

It looks like one of our candidates, Andy King is not going down without a fight. And frankly, it sounds like many are not.
Council Candidate announced at a recent Eastchester rally that the community will hear from him again politically-real soon.

On that same note Political Parent Party Assemblyman candidate for 2010 Mark Rodriguez and Bronx Chairman Carl Heastie have already announced the political wrestling match of the year-first-the stair down from PPP Candidate Rodriguez at The infamous 14th Council manic Fordham Road showdown-to Mr Heastie announcing to Bronx News Columnists, "Tell Mark, I'm ready to get it on".

NWB Democrats is not looking for a fight-politically or otherwise-but what we are looking for is for long term community activists to have a political seat at their neighborhood table. The numbers below, from our 2009 Primary Candidates, show that there is NOT Unity-within Bronx Democrats:

This race starts up the hill in Riverdale, swings down to Van Cortland, Norwood & Bedford Park. It pits Oliver Koppell and the Ben Franklin Club , Committee of 100 Democrats and NWB Democrats Vs. The Anthony Cassino led;North Bronx Democratic Alliance (NBDA) and The Liberty Democratic Association (LDA)

81st Assembly District-Riverdale, Upper Norwood-78% of race

As we start down The Leafy hills on Riverdale, Cassino throws a roadblock of NBDA workers at Riverdale Ave. Oliver takes the "short cut" down Kappock St and asks his new "point team" to make brochures to leave to the people behind: They mis-spell his last name. Don't worry says, Assemblyman Dinowitz, The Ben Franklin Club will save you....and in Riverdale, led by Thomas McNeil, they do a great job.
As they jump into Upper Norwood, The Kenny Agosto led LDA and The JC Led SEIU/1199 are waiting to ambush Oliver at the kneecaps. Oliver, realizing he has no ground troops here, calls point man Arthur, who also realizes Oliver has none. Then, the truth comes out. Ben Franklin will not come into Upper Norwood, or as some have called it. "the ghetto". After several frantic phone calls, Jeffrey calls The NWB Democrats for assistance. As one of Oliver point men comes in to help with the Norwood Bloodbath, he gets "yoked" by an 1199 volunteer. NWB Team members Daisy Rodriguez, Julian Aronowitz and George Diaz do a great job in holding their side-allowing LDA to run away. They look for NBDA-but they never came to the "ghetto" neither.

Oliver and Anthony, both realizing now that the district zigzags, ask their affiliated clubs to assist:

80th Assembly-Lower Norwood & Lower Bedford Park 16% of race
With Anthony having to make up significant ground, he turns around to see his rein-forcements; LDA led Joe McManus, Joe Barnett and Barbara Stronzer are waiting to assist. With NWB troops assisting in the 81st-they zoom back down the hill, pick up NWB Teammates; Sally Caldwell, Sonia Lapin, Cerio Guerrino and Urusla Morgan-and barrels into the crowd with a seal to a Koppell victory

78th Assembly District- Upper Bedford Park 6% of Race
SEIU/1199 made an early stand, blanketing Bedford Park Blvd with brochures. NWB Teammates Helene Hartman and Anthony Johnson were out early as well, and met them near St Phillip Neri Church. NWB calls in Assemblyman Jose Rivera. We also called The Committee of 100 Democrats (home base) for assistance. Chairman Martinez was not in but VC Robert Press stated they start at 12. Ironically at 1PM, 1199 gets the call to help in Kingsbridge for Fernando Cabrera. Bedford Park is empty. Ricky Martinez and Robert Press zoom through and provide great back up afternoon assistance. The Assemblyman has to leave (to the 14th Council District) as well. NWB deploys some troops to also assist in the 14th Council race.

By 9:30PM, Oliver , already a tall man, was standing on a chair victories thanking everyone for their support.

In Riverdake-NBDA could finally become a Riverdale Force to Ben Franklin while in Bedford Park & Norwood-NWB Democrats became the new "non Riverdale" leader in the district, with East Side Club, Liberty Democratic Association barely matching The Committee of 100 Democrats tiny power base. From Tremont to Fordham-hundreds of signs are down. The Rumors are flying......"ivannnnn, Richieeeee" Assemblyman Nelson Castro-jumps on the Baez bus and says "She's the one".

As we reach the 3/4 mark, North End Democratic Club (Baez club) gets ready to rumble. Assemblyman Jose Rivera gets the Anti Republican Flyswatters. The Committee of 100 Democrats, who endorsed Cabrera early-decides to stay out of the fray. SEIU 1199 comes out of nowhere to clog the Fordham and Kingsbridge merchant strips with materials. Down the hill Cabrera Captain, Greg Faulkner was in discussions with voters suggesting voter fraud as Tapia poll watchers were getting thrown out of polling sights for various complaints, while the Cabrera ice cream truck swung down the hill as Bronx Democratic Chairman Carl Heastie waved and "Fernando Cabrera music" was in the air. 33% of polls in 78th district had Tapia poll watchers thrown out.

Firstly, NWB Democrats wants to congratulate the new Councilman, Fernando Cabrera.
Secondly, some thoughts: Baez won 2 Districts, 81st and 86th-60% of the voting district. Former County chairman Jose Rivera and Assemblyman Nelson Castro are winners. New 77th Assembly Woman Ms Gibson brought home some new bacon for Cabrera and Bronx County. In the 78th, Will the North End Democratic Club finally be toppled-not by The Committee of 100 Democrats-but by New Life Church-(or is it really 1199?). And what about the Committee? Despite their early endorsement, many residents say "they brought nothing to the party' and changed their stance to neutral. Vice Chair Robert Press was quoting saying, just before Primary day, "Its a Three Headed race".And NWB, in their first forty of political voice in the 78th and 81st Districts-pulling out a combined 23% vote for Tapia-an interesting number indeed.

11th District-NorthWest Bronx-Our efforts in the "non riverdale sections" of the district have allowed Oliver Koppell and The Ben Franklin Club to concentrate in Riverdale-where 60% of the district is located. Read The Riverdale Press Review. NBT states that Riverdale will be ;Oliver 59%. Coupled with the Bedford Park & Norwood sections of the district, Oliver should win 72% for an aggregate total of: 68%

14th District-North/South West Bronx-Our efforts in this race for candidate Yudelka Tapia has been most rewarding. She is a perfect example of our mantra-Homegrown Candidates for Homegrown Representation- and as we find out, like Mr Cabrera, that Ms Baez is a Westchester visitor more than a Bronx resident. We believe Ms Tapia will SHOCK THE WORLD with a "squeezer"victory in a tight 3 way race. NBT predicts 39%. Read the NY Times seeing Baez fighting for her political life.

1st-Incumbent and 30 year Independent Oliver Koppell, From The NorthWest Bronx our victor in our inauguration election year-2005-decided to join us in our cause for 2009.
2nd- In The Southern Central Bronx, Yudelka Tapia, the "anointed" Councilperson for Maria Baez (before The Bronx War and The overthrow of term limits) decides-why go to the old-or new-Bronx Democratic Party-when she can come home to her roots-as an independent candidate.
3rd-Andy King-doing great community work in Eastchester and Co Op City in The NorthEast Bronx does not get recognized-by the old-or new-political establishment-----so he joins a group with a cause

*Anthony Cassino WOW, their SEIU1199/Liberty Democratic Association (LDA) in the 81 Assembly District (Upper Norwood) office opened to mixed reviews. Anthony invited the seniors from Montefiore to attend his open house but the gremlins report it was 1/3 full. Yes, Campaign Director Chris Miller is ALIVE-and sprouting in Riverdale. JC, Mr Health Care, reports that "The 1199 Buses are right around the corner".

*The Committee of 100 Democrats- I do not know which one is worse-LDA invading The 78th Assembly District and knocking on The Chairman of 100 Democrats (Ricky Martinez) door----AND NO ONE WAS HOME!!!!... the gremlins report that Vice Chairman Robert Press was in his home base in Riverdale (The 81st) when the invasion began.

The Ben Franklin Club- This 81 Assembly Riverdale Based District club is organizing (we hope) for coverage in their upper Norwood areas. Last week, we saw 2 (2???) key helpers. The Ben Franklin Club boasts 100 members. I hope they agree that if Upper Norwood represents, at least 15% of the 11th CD, then at least 15 Ben Franklins should be at Upper Norwood. So far in Riverdale, they have been doing a GRRATTTT Job, despite the occasional "mis-steps" of the Young Koppell Campaign Team. But in upper Norwood, the question remains: How many Ben Franklins are coming to (in their words), "The Desert"?

Oliver Koppell-I might start to call him Mr Bedford Park and Norwood soon. He spent some quality time campaigning in the areas ending up at wonderful St Brendan's church as his long time Lower Norwood supporters in the 80th Assembly District and churchgoers chanted his initials: "OK-OK"

He is doing a great job in Kingsbridge , organizing a "Men's for Baez" event (we passed by in the Tapia-Batmobile...and it was nice to see Assemblyman Rivera working hard for his candidate) and to see the "maria Baez" posters in Kingsbridge........Rich....dont Shoot the messenger but the gremlins on Sedgwick Ave told me they are not there anymore)

*Fernando Cabrera- There are so many questions. So Little answers. Sometime in the next 7 days with the TV Debates coming up maybe we can learn why a man, living in Westchester County as a Registered Republican, working for community rights in other districts, sharing his values as a member of The Jerry Falwell Liberty University, while deciding NOT TO re-serve as a Community Board 7 member in 2006, as issues like "The Old Fordham Library and The Kingsbridge Armory" came to light in 2006 ......do I go on???....Is that too many questions enough??????...thank you to organizations like The Norwood News and The Daily News for bringing these issues out to light as the campaign season gets HOT. And yes The posters on 183rd are wonderful.....(but we have gremlins there too)

*Yudelka Tapia-Now you see him....Now you don't!. ..........The rumors were out there....Halie Rivera working for Maria Baez......no one wanted to believe them......Then Halie gives the campaign a call. He knows there's an opening. WE JUST FIRED our campaign manager. He wants to lead us to the promise land...............then 48 hours later.................He was given a proposal in Washington and he can not work on the campaign?

Our organization supported Ruben Diaz in February of 2009. As Mr Press, Vice Chair of 100 Democrats says at a recent Ben Franklin (81st Assembly) club meeting, 100 Democrats (in the 78th) and NWB Democrats (in the 80th) 'postered" for his special election ,and shortly thereafter, gathered signatures for Mr Diaz in June.

So, why does "Hitman" John DeSio, once a mild manner reporter with The Riverdale Review, now a "Senior Spokesperson" for Boro President Ruben Diaz Jr decide to ask "The Bronx News" newspaper to kill our longstanding community article "North Bronx Thinktank"-unless its personal. We CANT BELIEVE Mr Diaz ordered this. and if we are right-------should he be fit for duty.......or fit right.....into the City Conflicts of Interest Board?....Hmmm...I think I found an item on next weeks agenda!

Is the Hitman Out again in District 7?

Last Week-it was the column, "North Bronx Thinktank" that the hitman stopped from coverage in The Bronx.
Now-it could be CB7 Chairman Gregory Faulkner & CB7 member John Harris next on his list.

Ruben Diaz just announced that he will not request an "alternative supermarket" in the Kingsbridge Armory.

Faulkner & Harris wanted a "BIG BOX" store to provide, what John Harris called, 'cheaper products with better quality". KARA, the Community group asking the developer , Related Companies and Diaz to forge ahead with a CBA. but clearly, Rubencito can not be happy with Greg and John

Word has it that Boro President "spokesman" John Desio was upset at a recent meeting when Faulkner @ Harris names came up (click here) (click here)

Yes, The Oliver Koppell campaign staff messed up. All praise goes to Arthur Heller, Jason Jeramiah, Raffi, John and others in the office, After all, they are working 654 hours a day. Yes, A Costly mistake-in more ways than one

And it gets even stranger. 74 East Gun Hill Road.Right across from Mosholu Montefiore Community center (MMCC) This is the new Second Home of Liberty Democratic Association-The wonderful Pelham Parkway EASTSIDE club of Ken Agosto and Joe McManus. Now they have 2 offices. One in Riverdale-1 in Upper Norwood. BOTH in the 81st Assembly District of Jeffrey Dinowitz and The Ben Franklin Club.

At two conference call meetings, it was decided by Assemblyman Dinowitz and the Koppell staff that "Ben Franklin" will cover Upper Norwood. the Committee of 100 Democrats (With NWB Democrats help) has covered this area for 5 years. At the end of the discussion, Vice Chairman of 100 Democrats said "Good luck Oliver, I hope your still my Councilman'

NWB Democrats and the Committee of 100 Democrats stated at the meeting that we will hold our respective positions in the 80th Assembly and 78th Assembly district in regards to the council district. but like Mr Press, we are disturbed about this fact as well. Upper Norwood represents 20% of the council district. If Ben Franklin has not been in the Norwood 81st in 5 years, this decision could RISK the election of Mr Koppell. as of LAST WEEK, before the "invasion", NBT analysis still has Mr Koppell coming in with a composite 63% of the vote

Mr Anthony Cassino-funny, he gave up on his own West Side Riverdale based Club, North Bronx Democratic Association to work with EAST SIDE LDA. Either Saul and Tony had one hell of a fight or MoneyBags McManus made one hell of a withdrawl. Even the Norwood News, I am sure must be disapointed, after waiting over 4 years of organizational assistance. (click here)

*President Rubencito Diaz Jr Supports Fernando Cabrera. The CNG Blog article regarding the race not only draws the battle-lines-but also, AGAIN, shows that his campaign now has more questions than answers (click here) And on that note, THANK YOU Political Parent Party! for your continued committment.

And Maria Baez-Shes Alive Shes Alive. And she's doing big things. For starters, she showed up at City Hall to be endorsed by former Boro President Fernando Ferrer. We suspect, that The City Council marked her present this time-shes barely there! But one time this week, she had an excuse. Maria got the old gang together with a merchant owner on Kingsbridge and called it a Rally (click here) And , The slush truck, I do not think,
was there.

"And lest we forget, potential spoiler, perennial candidate Yudelka Tapia".

At least, this is how The Daily News treats our candidate Ms Yudelka Tapia but we do not mind. As Maria Baez tries to hold her core base and Fernando Cabrera answering more questions about himself on a daily basis, (click here) we believe Ms Tapia, in one of the tightest races for 2009, will squeak out a victory-courtesy of NWB Democrats and The Political Parent Party

Working Families Party-Did They "Dis-endorse" Cabrera?

Now Let's be clear!

On July 31st, The Bronx media rumors started to float that 14th Councilmanic candidate Fernando Cabrera was "dis-endorsed" by The Working Families Party. On August 1st, our team did some research and found out two things:
a) Several media organizations reported on June 1st that WFP endorsed Fernando Cabrera
b)On The WFP Website "cropped" for that day (BELOW) as you can see, Mr Cabrera, NOR ANYONE, in the 14th Councilmanic District was endorsed by WFP. That alone, would not surprise us, as in 2005, WFP DID NOT endorse a candidate in the 14th Councilmanic race

Then On Mon Night, August 3rd, NWB asked Democratic Chairman Carl Heastie about this on Bronxnet TV and he indicated that the WFP was still endorsing him and everything else was mis-information

ON Tues-August 4th, WHOOLA, Their website, was updated:

a) Our Club posted over 400 signatures-for the election of Ruben Diaz Jr
b) We have the "Boro President's name" on our current campaign brochures -for our joint support of Councilman Oliver Koppell.
c) we recently praised him "in the Bronx News" over his call to investigate his own economic arm,BOEDC,under his prior president,Mr Carrion.
d) Our offer, since July, to profile The Deputy Boro President Ms Greene,in print and television, based on her long length of public service
d) We have asked to be placed on The President's e-mail listings to make his news,of TOP priority.

*On Monday-Kingsbridge Armory Public Hearing Night. Firstly, Thank You President Diaz for holding a 2ND PUBLIC HEARING to learn more about the delicate community task at hand. We learned many things: a) The Community will get schools
b) The community is starting with a surety of 10% community space
c) The Community Board will not back a "living wage" and proposes another supermarket in the area, either creating competition-or destroying Mom and Pop businesses.
Board Member John Harris will be long remembered for his proposal-one way or another. we also thank our council candidates; Tapia & Koppell, for reminding The Borough President to include schools into the plan. Much kudos goes to Mr Koppell for working tirelessly behind the scenes for the school plan

On Wednesday-Maybe the best phone call we got-from the Bronx Democratic Chairman-Mr Carl Heastie. it was a wonderful 2 hour conversation and i think we discussed a great deal about the Northwest Bronx area. It is not Mr Heastie's fault, being a new Chairman, that he does not know the political "sensitivities" regarding The Northwest Bronx. after all, in 2008 and prior, he was just an Assemblyman-in Wakefield. Over the course of the last 9 months-after the Bronx Political war-we finally got his attention. AND HE LISTENED and i think now understands that we have been serving the Northwest Bronx since 2003-we are not going anywhere-which is why political non neighborhood operatives will not work in our area-we work, live, spend money and love our area!!!! Thank You Mr Heastie for the call.

Well, now our search is complete. To best serve all of our club communities it is very important for us to find 2 candidates, from Fordham to Riverdale-in the North Bronx that would both; provide us with that political voice that 25 year community activists have been looking for and to keep up with our first mantra: To preserve & protect the North Bronx

in the 11th council manic district (from Bedford Park to Riverdale) we re-endorsed Oliver Koppell We supported him in 2005. He has been a public servant in our district for over 30 years, in many roles. Club Member Ursula Morgan says, "I can not think of a better homegrown candidate"

In the 14th council District (from 165th to 195th), we endorse Yudelka Tapia for one reason and one reason only, says, Director Anthony Rivieccio; "It was truly a toss up. we want homegrown candidates, Yudelka & Yorman combined have over 40 years of living and helping in the district. I do not know why Yorman left the race, but I do know that Yudelka has been breaking down "Bronx Democratic Barriers" for 20 years while serving the needs of the district. THE TIME IS NOW TO BREAK THAT FINAL BARRIER. NOW-From Fordham to Kingsbridge Heights, is the time for Yudelka!

The Phone Call from The Bronx Democratic Chairman

We were very surprised that The Bronx Democratic Chairman Carl Heastie called our office and spent "2 hours" of his time to discuss with us, our activities in The NorthWest Bronx.

Firstly, we had to "correct him", when he said, "that the 11 Council manic District political activities are being run by Jeffrey Dinowitz & Ben Franklin". That is partly true, As local people know, (and of course The Koppell campaign) our club is running what we call "the Non Riverdale" portion (Bedford Park, Norwood and Van Courtlandt Village). We have been serving these communities since 2003. And a VERY IMPORTANT 35% of the district. I am glad he understands, now!

I hope he understands for example, that , for example, in the 2005, non riverdale areas of the district brought in an aggregate 12% to Mr Koppell's election. Riverdales majority, per vote, actually went down 7%. Yes Riverdale is the majority-BUT BEDFORD PARK, NORWOOD and VCL are areas underserved in this mixed belief. Ask former Chairman Jose Rivera when he saw that NWB Democrats brought in a Koppell Victory in 2005. Finally, some respect after 20 years-then-a Bronx Political War (2008) and now (2009) non Riverdale is BACK OFF THE RADER SCREEN. We want to thank Mr Heastie for acknowledging this political crack and to recognize community activists who do not want a title.

But sadly, secondly, we also agree with Mr Heastie, that in Bronx Politics, District Leaders (Titles) should run the organization. If we want to take our community activism-to a political level-according to Mr Heastie, run for Leadership Roles. (Oh Lord, 25 yr/50 yr old community activists running for office.........???????)

But most importantly, we apologized for any aggressive tone our organization has had with Mr Heastie recently. Our organization, as he also now knows, comes from 25 years of; 2 Bronx Political wars and years of neglect. Now, as community activists-we want our political voice back. We ended, I hope, with a feeling of mutual respect. Starting today, attempting to work within the boundaries of a very fractured party-we will-at his request-do our best. We only ask, as we said when we hung up the phone "that sometimes, 25 year community activists know more about their community then 2 year/25 year wannabee non neighborhood residents. I think he understood. And once again, thank you Mr Heastie for your phone call

The Kingsbridge Armory Tradegy

Many people would say a tradegy took place this week in North Bronx community development

The Kingsbridge Armory , city owned for 90 years, has just sold the building to private company, The Related Companies who wants to build "Shops At The Armory" a 90% retail mall

But many problems have developed:
a) The Community themselves want community space in The Armory
b) Community Board 7 listed a "preset of conditions" for the Borough President-after they said YES to the deal
c)Neighboring Councilman Oliver Koppell who wanted the armory to be 100% community space is still fighting hard-for the inclusion of schools
d) In The CB7 approval, member John Harris, introduced -and the CB7 Board approved- an inclusion of a supermarket-directly threatening Morton Williams Supermarket-a 4 decade Bronx institution-and its union neighborhood employees with no jobs
e) At a recent Community Rally for "Responsible Development" Democratic leaders, Carl Heastie & Ruben Diaz Jr did not attend despite assures from their offices of showing-while Councilman Koppell and Assembly people Jose and Naomi Rivera joined the march

Our club supports the same position many of us as individuals have protested for for 10 years-BUILD MORE SCHOOLS!

Dear Members of the NYS Senate,

On the behalf of the members, residents, businesses, and students in Bronx Community Board 7, we respectfully urge you to heed the Governor’s call to convene the Senate and conduct the business of the people. There is too much at stake to allow partisan and personal agendas to take precedence over the needs of millions of New Yorkers. New Yorkers are struggling with the effects of increasing uncertainty in our economy, in our homes, and in our schools. Compounding these stresses, by adding the uncertainty of the direction of our own government, exasperates the aforementioned and demonstrates callousness for the plight of the people.

We plead the people’s case once again, the same people who you are charged in representing as our Senate, and advise for their benefit that you vote and act on those matters before you today. Thank you.

Ms Yudelka Tapia, 14th City Council Candidate has assused another candidate, Mr Fernando Caberra of being a 10 year closet Republican. According to her, Westchester County Documents show that he has been a registered Republican for 10 years and just recently both; moved into the Fordham/Kingsbridge neighborhood and changed affilation to Democrat.

WOW...............Now Bronx District Attorney Johnson is looking into a 2008 Campaign complaint from a Rafael Martinez that he was "roughed up" by what he calls "Espada goons". "Uly", as many of us in the Bronx might know him was a Senior political Operator for the Jose Rivera Led 2008 Democratic party

Since Summer of 2008, the historic day that the Bronx Democratic Leadership on The Grand Concourse changed hands, we screamed out and warned them. we told them the in adeptness of their campaign planning (non residents covering neighborhood areas) for the 33rd State Senate District was a sham and "not to leave us' after they created this mess in the first place.

Break Up---To Make UP???

Yes, its the old song-that sometimes over time-has just the same strength as the original.

In 2004, our affiliate North Bronx Thinktank gathered many Bedford Park, Norwood & Riverdale residents and re-formed the Committee of 100 Democrats.
From 2004 to 2006 The Committee participated and was successful in over 10 North Bronx campaigns. In 2007 many members broke up for several reasons and separated into many different community and political nucleus es.

On Saturday, May 23rd, The Executive members of the Committee and Northwest Bronx Liberty Democratic Club have formed a "partnership' in which we call; For the Spirit of Good Government" in the North west Bronx areas from Fordham to Van Courtland.

Can this partnership work? Are we dreaming???
